Hannah Howard

Interviewed by Riley M

Unlike many of the other adult leaders and drivers that are going on the Alaska Great Lakes Project this year, Hannah Howard has never gone on the trip. Hannah has been approached by Ishtar multiple times in the past to go on the trip as a driver and this year decided that it would be fun to apply and go on the trip. Hannah was encouraged by many of her friends that had gone on the trip since every single on of them had said that the trip was on of the most memorable events of their lives. Hannah has lived in Marshall her entire life, meeting Ishtar as her teacher. Ishtar also taught Hannah’s sister and mom when they were in school. Hannah currently works as a teller at the Bank of America in Marshall and she has worked there for about a year. Previously, Hannah worked at Bath and Body Works as a manager for five years. When Hannah told her friends that she was going to be a driver for a group going to Alaska, they were all a little shocked. Luckily, Hannah thinks she is a good driver and that she should be able to get everyone where they need to be safely.
Hannah looks forward to the trip for several reasons. First, Hannah loves traveling and meeting new people, so going to Alaska and learning about the culture and the people there was very excited for her. Second, she has heard how amazing Alaska is; how majestic the landscape is and how beautiful the wildlife is and she very much look forward to seeing each in  person. Seeing the Northern Lights is a very exciting proposition for Hannah. Third, Hannah wanted to take the opportunity to see Alaska when it presented itself. She told me that since the Earth is changing so much especially as of late, a person who has never seen Alaska and the glaciers may never be able to in the future. A chance to see these things should be taken up when a person is able to.
